Stang Sweepstakes: Win a Valvoline Mustang GT-V from Roush
It’s always nice when you can add another Mustang to the driveway. Valvoline and Nightshift are teaming up for the ultimate Mustang giveaway: a custom Mustang GT-V designed by the renowned tuner RJ de Vera and built by Roush Performance.
The names de Vera and Roush Performance aren’t big for nothing. Their superior design and build skills are proven in this unique build.
“The overall theme developed for the Mustang GT-V was ‘Modern yet Classic,’” said RJ de Vera. “Since we were hoping to bridge the gap between different car enthusiasts we decide to create a fusion between the young tuner performance oriented and aggressive ethos with that of classic American muscle feel. I believe we succeeded in producing an automobile that any car nut would love to have in his garage.”
The Valvoline GT-V includes a VeilSide’s D1GT body kit, Roush 427R engine package, H&R springs, Volk Racing wheels, Diamond audio system and a custom suede interior by Street Concepts.
With an estimated worth of $60,000, this Mustang is far from feathered down. This is the stuff dreams are made of.

Bold Moves: Quantum Performance begins production of high-performance Shelbys
Awhile back, Shelby Automobiles announced the opening of their excited new factory-authorized mod shop in the heart of the southwestern United States. This week, the shop, Quantum Performance Ltd., began production at full steam. Shelby Automobiles has already shipped out “Super Snake,” CS8 and Terlingua Racing Team packages to their mod shop.
Quantum is one of three mod shops that currently provides tweaked-up Shelby and Ford Mustangs to the southwest US, including customers in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
“We’re excited to begin cranking out Super Snakes, Terlingua Racing Team cars and other post-title modified Shelbys,” said Ken Northum, managing partner of Quantum Performance. “The demand is very high in this region for these ultra high-performance American muscle cars and the facility has now moved into high gear to satisfy our customers.”
Some enthusiasts simply cannot settle with base V6 and V8 Ford Mustangs and Shelbys, so Quantum takes care of scratching their itch. A Shelby factory-trained team is able to offer handling enhancements by professionally installing Shelby “Super Snake” packages for the 2007… [Read More]
Frank Szymkowski’s 2007 Redfire Mustang GT Premium Convertible
Frank Szymkowski’s passion for the Ford Mustang began with a sort of “secret love” for the Fox body 5.0s that had their performance peak in the mid-80s. “I had a friend who bought one every year and he got ‘em to really run well,” says Szymowski. “Always had a love for those cars.”
His love for muscle cars was already strong, though. At the time his infatuation began with the blue oval, he had already lined his driveway with plenty of muscle, from ’69 Judges to a ’65 Z16 Chevelle. After installing $35-40K… [Read More]
Gavin Lohmeier’s 5-speed 2007 Ford Mustang GT

But his passion was not lost. While recovering from surgery last year, Lohmeier needed a project to keep himself busy. So, he purchased a brand new 5-speed 2007 GT Mustang. “I have always loved the Mustang, but now I have found the perfect one for me, and it is fun to add mods and make it my own.”

Ford to limit Bullitt Mustang production to 7,700 vehicles
Limited edition releases are a bittersweet commodity—on one hand, they’re generally loaded with perks that cause consumers to drool, but on the other hand, they’re limited. Ford MoCo recently responded to the overwhelming demand for 2009 GT500KR Mustangs by boosting their production numbers.
Rumors have been circulating that the company would do the same for this year’s Bullitt, another popular limited edition Stang. Unfortunately for the McQueenites who missed the boat on the 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt, the company has decided not to boost the production run of the retro remakes, keeping the figure set at 7,700 vehicles.
Still, this is a relief for those who have gotten their orders in, as the Bullitt’s value will not drop as a result of any production boost.
5,600 of the cars will be produced this year and 2,100 will be produced for the vehicle’s 2009 return. Ford has confirmed that the vehicles will continue to be numbered sequentially and will not start over with the ’09 model.

Indiana State Police purchase fleet of 2008 Ford Mustangs
The Indiana State Police are notorious for their astute methods in securing the Hoosier highways. But the days of camping behind the billboard with the radar gun are over for 18 lucky officers—the state recently purchased a new fleet of 2008 Mustang GTs to be used as unmarked police vehicles.
Most youngsters can’t remember any time when the ISP patrolled in anything but Crown Victorias, but these were only used after Chevy discontinued the Camaro. And what did the ISP use before the Camaro? You guessed it—the Ford Mustang. In an interview with FlyerGroup, ISP Sergeant Rich Myers said the state’s fleet consisted of a few Mustangs in the 1980s to be used for traffic patrol.
Next time you pull up to a stoplight, be sure to look closely at your opponent before you throw it in neutral—it just might be an officer. This new fleet of pony cars has no identifying factor aside from a discrete set of red and blue flashing lights hidden within the cabin. The cars don’t even have antennas!
As disguised as they are, you’ll be sure to see them if one of these squad… [Read More]
Mustang Tech: How to install sequential taillights for a classic Ford Mustang
No matter how far we prefer to stick our heads up our hoods, we all need some exterior flair. For several years, I’ve contributed How-To write-ups to numerous publications, namely Mustang Monthly. With the help of photographer/writer Jim Smart, these articles have proven helpful to countless readers and enthusiasts.
For the classic Mustang enthusiast looking to install that added flair to the rear, I’ve outlined the process of installing a classic Mustang sequential taillight system from Scott Drake Mustang Parts. All photos were taken in my shop, Marlo’s Frame & Alignment.
This sequential taillight system from Scott Drake Mustang Parts includes three-lamp taillight buckets, 1157 bulbs, wiring harnesses, two sequential electronic turn-signal modules, variable flasher unit, and polycarbonate taillight lenses specifically engineered to handle the heat exerted by the three 1157 bulbs.
The Drake system is superior to others with its solid-state circuitry, free of any mechanical relays, servos, motors, or cams. They have two duplicate modules which each sequence the lamps separately. The 1-2-3 pace of the lights… [Read More]
Ford Mustang in NASCAR 2009: Rumors continue to flow…
A rumor has been milling around the boards for awhile (since December) that the allure of NASCAR may soon be heightened by the introduction of the Ford Mustang as one of its official cars. Rumors can be vicious, but so far, they look promising.
I thought I’d compile as many leaks regarding this development and continue to update as we receive more information.
Enthusiasts have ached for Big 3 sports car (not Taurus or Grand Prix) platforms in popular racing ever since the original Grand Am Series, which left the scene in 1985. According to a source last December from within Ford Motor Company, the motorsports division does expect the Fusion to be replaced by the Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Nationwide (formerly Busch) Series next year.
“We’re expecting to run the Mustang in 2009,” the source told an Orlando Sentinel blog.
The potential difference between future Nationwide series and Nextel Cup series platforms seems stark,… [Read More]
Bold Moves: Ford Mustang with 427ci Chevrolet Corvette engine from Muscle Carz
The Mustang and its Chevy rival, the Corvette, have battled for the support of gearheads for years. But Muscle Carz, a Texas shop, has made it possible to choose both camps with a new S197 that incorporates the V8 heart of the Vette under its hood.
Of course, everyone’s familiar with the 427 in Mustangs with the Roush 427R, but Muscle Carz has taken a Procharged C5R—not the usual 7.0L—Chevrolet LS-series engine and dumped it under the hood of this ’06 Stang as if we wouldn’t notice.
This engine is built with billet Read More…
Hertz, Kruse International to auction 2007 Hertz Shelby GT-H rental fleet
Remember when Hertz and Shelby tickled our nostalgic nerves by offering an exclusive rental fleet of throwback Limited Edition 2007 Hertz Shelby GT-H convertibles? Well, they’re now being offered up on the auction block.
The Hertz corporation is now teaming up with Kruse International and Dyno Marketing to hold a public auction of the company’s entire fleet of “rent-a-racers.”
The 500 car fleet won’t all be auctioned at the same time, of course. Procedures will begin with a preliminary auction of 75-100 of the GT-Hs at Kruse’s 17th Annual Auburn Spring Motorfair from May 29 to June 1. The event will take place on the world famous 480 acre Kruse Auction Park in Auburn, Indiana.
In an interview with TheMustangNews, David Stolt, Hertz’s Senior Director of Car Sales Operations, said Read More…
