Saleen’s 302 crate engines for sale through Speedlab Division

Even during a gas crunch when the government has tightened gas standards, the 5.0L engine is being given another chance to relive its glory days. The next model of the Ford Mustang is projected to have a 5.0L option, and aftermarket companies, including Saleen, have responded accordingly.

We’ve seen Saleen’s 302 cubic inch engine in the past few years used in their Parnelli Jones Edition, the Heritage Series, as well as the 25th Anniversary Sterling Edition.

But for the first time in the aftermarket giant’s history, Read More…

Every week, we’ll highlight a Mustang Show somewhere in America. The 4th Annual Dillon Congregational Car Show was held this weekend in front of courthouse in the quaint town of Dillon County, South Carolina.

The show was part of the city’s Main Street Festival, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, and acted as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life efforts in the city.

Three Awesome Ford Mustang Videos

I know it’s been awhile, so we figured we’d kick off the week with some great Mustang videos. The proliferation of sites like YouTube has encouraged enthusiasts to keep the camera on their cars. Some produce tire-screeching videos of their one-of-a-kind pony cars while others are bent on making complete fools of other ‘enthusiasts.’ Still, others persist in making Mustang replicas out of Legos and filming the results.

Do any of the aforementioned examples sounds a bit ridiculous? Below, I’ve posted examples of all three.

V12 Vanquish Engine in a Ford Mustang – Several months ago, we brought you Read More…

Electric Muscle: Tjaarda EVX and HST Shelby Cobra Ford Mustangs

With last year’s announcement that CAFÉ standards will be increased to 35mph by 2020, the death of the pony car looked inevitable. While the resulting emissions are unfortunate, the throaty growl a Ford Mustang produces cannot be replicated under such standards. Or can they?

The folks at Tjaarda and HST have recently teamed up to put an earth-friendly face on the pony car America holds a steadfast affection for, usually turning their heads when the mpg factor is considered.

Both Tjaarda’s EVX Mustang and HST’s Shelby Cobra produce zero Read More…

Mustang Milestones: 9,000,000th Mustang built, 100 early entrants for birthday cruise

While celebrating the Ford Mustang’s birthday in true fashion, the company was able to enjoy a couple of refreshing milestones that exemplify the vehicle’s continued establishment as the leading pony car in America.

First, on Tuesday, there was plenty of excitement within the Ford facilities in Flat Rock, Michigan. According to TheMustangNews, the company rolled out its 9,000,000th Mustang, sending it off to an anonymous dealership in the heart of America. No information has yet been made available regarding its color or even its model, but the milestone underlines 44 years of undying love for America’s favorite pony car.

Initially, it only took the Mustang two years to reach Read More…

Concept: The S5S Raptor from Saleen (Pics and Video)

When looking for a tasteful blend of power, performance and style, look no further than Saleen’s current lineup. The aftermarket giants from Irvine recently revealed their S5S Raptor at the New York Auto Show.

StangPlanet missed the show but had a chance to get up close to the concept. While it’s no Mustang, we thought you’d want to see it if you haven’t yet. And with a 5.0L engine pushing out 650 horsepower and 630 lb-ft. of torque, it’s everything a Mustang enthusiast can appreciate.

But aside from power, the Raptor also has its claws around another concept: Read More…

Mustang celebrates 44th birthday, FordPerformance.com launched

It all began 44 years ago, today. On the night before April 17 in 1964, Ford wanted to capitalize on the buildup of buzz around their new sports car, so they ran commercials at the same time at 9:30 on all three major networks. Then, on the following morning, Ford dealerships around the country opened under the most anticipated release of the era, as they took care of the swarms of Americans who wanted the new Ford Mustang. On that first day, Ford sold 22,000 Mustangs to plenty of satisfied consumers.

To both honor the muscle car’s history while keeping the icon in control of current media trends, Ford Racing has launched FordPerformance.com, a new web-based initiative that aims Read More…

Everything Carz: Wine with an Automotive Twist

The auto enthusiast community has been given a bad wrap in the past. We’re often perceived as a bunch of defunct roughnecks — and maybe we are! — but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate a bit of refinement in our lives.

Recently, Everything Carz made that refinement possible with the announcement of its new line of automotive styled wine accessories. Now, enthusiasts can add a literal automotive pop and twist to their parties, with Everything Carz’s new line of wine stoppers and corkscrews.

Everything Carz realizes that most enthusiasts dump all of their money into their polished ponies, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But most find themselves strapped Read More…

Bold Moves: Shelby kicks off NHRA Weekend with opening of Shelby Corner café in Las Vegas

It’s that time of the year again, folks. Along with the sun, the Mustangs are out and making their way to the tracks. Of course, the NHRA series started up this weekend, so Shelby thought they’d kick off the season with the opening of their newly developed Shelby Corner Café in Las Vegas.

The location is fitting enough: the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, smack dab in the heart of the Shelby Automobiles campus. The café sits next to the well-renowned Shelby Automobiles factory and mod shop, where Shelby Automobiles turns out a variety of Cobras, GT500KRs and Super Snakes every year.

Thursday’s festivities included an NHRA-themed party with Read More…

Classic Design Concepts releases windstop for S197 Mustangs

It’s no wonder Classic Design Concepts took home two top awards from last year’s SEMA show; the company never fails in delivering top caliper aftermarket products to the Mustang enthusiast community. Well recently, they’ve sustained their standards with the release of the CDC S197 Ford Mustang Windstop.

Allowing for both style and utility, the CDC windstop is “designed to coexist with the CDC Light Bar.” It will, as the name suggests, halt any air movement within the cabin, a relief for many convertible owners.

In addition to reducing air movement, the device is also designed for Read More…
