Things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving…

Let’s face it – this year has been pretty difficult for almost everyone in the old US of A, especially in the past few months as the financial crisis tightens its grip on the world economy. However, even in dire times, there are still many things to be thankful for during Thanksgiving 2008.

As Americans buckle up and drive out to buy the estimated 45 million turkeys consumed every Thanksgiving, we can certainly be thankful for one timely miracle: the price of gasoline. It should come as a pleasant surprise – especially to those of us who certainly don’t drive our cars “efficiently” – that gas prices have dropped dramatically recently, and we should all be thankful for that. Of course, I wouldn’t expect my tank- full of $1.39 gas – to last forever, but these prices will be nice while they last.

More important perhaps to StangPlanet readers is something that – in the hard times of today – many would have not anticipated happening: the return of the pony car. What better way is there to celebrate Thanksgiving than to have official images of the 2010 Mustang GT imprinted in your head as you pass a Dodge Challenger on the way to a grocery store, only after passing a billboard for the Chevy Camaro… [Read More]

Ford: “Another chapter” in 2010 Mustang story to be revealed in Detroit

Boy, Ford really got what it wanted this past week: nonstop chatter about its 2010 Mustang redesign. It only took a new website, a story contest, a film contest and a mess of leaks to build up the hype.

But now that the hype is built up and the damn thing has been revealed, what can you do? Ford has the answer: omit one crucial piece of the puzzle until the next big auto show in Detroit.

And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Sure enough, if you review the SPEED Channel … [Read More]

Bold Moves: Ford offers plenty of 2010 Mustang wheels, body parts and accessories

If you watched SPEED Channel’s coverage of the LA Auto Show last week, you may have caught a glimpse of the “Mustang Garage” display Ford fashioned up for the 2010 Mustang. Less of a backyard workshop and more of a showroom for pristine pony parts, the garage housed various varieties of scoops, louvers, grilles, spoilers and wheels.

What’s that? Yes, wheels. Feast your eyes, folks.

While there are plenty of gadget choices enthusiasts can make to customize the 2010 Mustang, it seems that Ford wanted us to keep the most important option open in our heads: wheels. Choose from Chrome, Black Chrome, Gunmetal Gray Powder Coat, Satin Gold and High-Gloss Metallic White.

Ford’s got its head in the right place this go around, because there’s nothing better than a catalog full of good ol’ OEM goodies. Check out more photos of the wheel and body part options below, and be sure to… [Read More]

eBay Alert: Autographed die-cast Ford Mustang replica up for grabs

Last week, over 4,000 Mustang enthusiasts made it out to Santa Monica, California to witness the first official reveal of the 2010 Mustang. While the event was broadcast live on the SPEED Channel, those who actually attended took away many goodies, including a 1:18th scale limited edition Candy Apple Red die-cast 2010 Mustang.

Of course, moments after they were distributed to fans, one wound up on eBay.

Be part of history, yes history, by placing your bid on this model. While it’s not the first 2010 Mustang model we’ve caught on eBay, this one has been signed by industry legends Carroll Shelby, Jack Roush, Parnelli Jones, John Force, Ashley Force, Tommy Kendall and Scott Pruett. Oh, and it’s 1 of 4,000.

As of writing this, there has been one bid at… [Read More]

Really? 2010 Ford Mustang to make Knight Rider cameo

Really Ford? Really? Yes, it seems the big wigs over at Ford have decided the best way to get press for its new Mustang is to give it some nice product placement on what may be the worst show in television- Knight Rider.

That’s right, if you’re watching on Wednesday night, you can see the 2010 Ford Mustang roll out in some totally normal, not ridiculously obviously placed way.

“The 2010 Mustang arrived in a truck which was backed into the stage,” said Gary Scott Thompson, Knight Rider’s executive producer in a press release. “The car was unloaded, undercover and kept covered until we shot. Limited cast and crew were allowed on set. The moment we finished shooting the car was covered back up and put back in the truck and disappeared.”

This terrific Ford product will appear on a show already known for its blatantly obvious product placement of the 2008 GT500KR. On last week’s episode, KITT had… [Read More]

Positively Official: The 2010 Ford Mustang has surfaced, we approve

This is it! After all that waiting, the 2010 Mustang is finally here.

Ford certainly did not make the wait easy by constantly teasing us with leaked information. But now, after official photos have been released from Ford, the wait is over and we can sit back and take in the beauty that is the 2010 Ford Mustang.

The countless teasers that Ford gave us to preview this car hardly do it justice, as this car truly shines. The original s197 Mustang inspired an entire “modern retro” movement in the United States, and led to GM and Chrysler to create some amazing competition. This new Mustang seems to have kept all the things from the s197 that worked well in addition to adding many new design lines and cues that I think are beautiful.

The car is clearly moving in a new and interesting direction. There is noticeable inspiration from the … [Read More]
