Bold Moves: Ford design chief says 2010 Mustang will have a smaller look

While Car & Driver recently teased enthusiasts with a rendering of the Ford’s redesign of the 2010 Mustang, we still have hardly any idea what to expect until its anticipated unveiling next year. This frightens many Stangers who want to know what edge the Mustang will have in the battle of the pony cars with the Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro.

Fortunately, Ford MoCo’s design chief and North American design director, Peter Horbury, gave Automotive News a few hints that the body may turn out to be a bit smaller, following the current market trends of appealing to environmentally savvy consumers.

“We have a car which I think is more suitable for the times than the Challenger and the Camaro,” Horbury told Automotive News. “Especially the Challenger–it is a huge car when you see it on the road.”

Saleen’s 302 crate engines for sale through Speedlab Division

Even during a gas crunch when the government has tightened gas standards, the 5.0L engine is being given another chance to relive its glory days. The next model of the Ford Mustang is projected to have a 5.0L option, and aftermarket companies, including Saleen, have responded accordingly.

Bold Moves: Shelby kicks off NHRA Weekend with opening of Shelby Corner café in Las Vegas

It’s that time of the year again, folks. Along with the sun, the Mustangs are out and making their way to the tracks. Of course, the NHRA series started up this weekend, so Shelby thought they’d kick off the season with the opening of their newly developed Shelby Corner Café in Las Vegas.

The location is fitting enough: the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, smack dab in the heart of the Shelby Automobiles campus. The café sits next to the well-renowned Shelby Automobiles factory and mod shop, where Shelby Automobiles turns out a variety of Cobras, GT500KRs and Super Snakes every year.
