Bold Moves: 2010 Ford Mustang makes first official appearance at Road America

It has been the subject of a plethora of spy photos and spy videos, but on Saturday, the 2010 Ford Mustang made its first public, although camouflaged, appearance. As the staging ground for “Ford Mustang Day,” the Kohler International Challenge in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin was the perfect setting for the public debut of the next model.

The new steed acted as the pace car for the event throughout the weekend. All Mustangs were allowed free entry to the event and took part in a “Mustang Corral” down the straightaway. Other new offerings from Ford paraded the track as well, including the 2009 Ford Mustang Bullitt and a 2009 Ford Fusion.

Ford also allowed attendees to get behind the wheel of their new releases at the Briggs & Stratton track inside the Road America track. Included in this bunch were the 2009 Flex, Escape, Edge, Fusion, and Focus… [Read More]

Promise from Porter: Second Annual Great American Run will top the first

Last year’s first annual Great American Run defied the boundaries of American car outings—the rally began in New York and ended in Las Angeles, making numerous exotic pit stops in between. It was thought that the event could never be replicated, and if so, could never be topped.

Cannonball Run organizer Tim “Maverick” Porter is topping it this year.

The prize has been bumped from an $80k Bad Boy Mustang to a $100,000 minimum prize, with possibility of $1,000,000 depending on the number of entrants.

This year’s Great American Run will begin at the oasis of American ingenuity—the Playboy Mansion in California. Hosted by plenty of Playmates including Hef’s girlfriends Bridget, Holly and Kendra from the hit TV show “The Girls Next Store” and featuring a performance by Grammy-winning hip-hop superstar Ludacris, the first VIP party will be sure to settle in any first-timers who aren’t sure what to… [Read More]

2010 Ford Mustang to receive final tweaks after consumer clinics in Tampa

The spy photos and videos have come and gone. Internet speculation, desire and buzz has channeled its way up the ladders, some falling off as wishful thinking and some actually crawling into the mighty corporate offices in Dearborn.

But Ford has now held its final testing trial with consumers before the company moves from prototypes and begins producing the real deal: the 2010 Ford Mustang.

Every year, the blue oval sets up customer clinics to gauge consumer interest, and this year’s was in Tampa, Florida—a hotbed for Ford Mustang owners.

The company’s external clinics have traditionally been conducted annually by Ford’s 6-Sigma Center, a team of 40 Ford MoCo employees ranging from product development to personalization to marketing, all led by Mustang chief engineer Paul Randle.

But with the battle of the pony cars next year (Challenger and Camaro release), the… [Read More]

Bold Moves: Shelby kicks off NHRA Weekend with opening of Shelby Corner café in Las Vegas

It’s that time of the year again, folks. Along with the sun, the Mustangs are out and making their way to the tracks. Of course, the NHRA series started up this weekend, so Shelby thought they’d kick off the season with the opening of their newly developed Shelby Corner Café in Las Vegas.

The location is fitting enough: the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, smack dab in the heart of the Shelby Automobiles campus. The café sits next to the well-renowned Shelby Automobiles factory and mod shop, where Shelby Automobiles turns out a variety of Cobras, GT500KRs and Super Snakes every year.

Thursday’s festivities included an NHRA-themed party with Read More…
